Upon entry through the mighty, wooden gate, you will find yourself in the sunlit, yet shady courtyard; lovingly decorated with flowers, plants and art. A pleasing symbiosis of the modern and of the traditional, also reflected in the small Heurigen tavern within, and expression of the overall philosophy and soul of the Mazza estate.
Out back in the garden, the eye roams over the vinyards Vordererseiber and Hinter der Burg , whose vines stretch right up to the house. The Mazza estate encompasses three hectars of excellent locations, mostly in Weissenkirchen, Joching and Dürnstein, and are cared for along strict environmental guidelines. The grapes are harvested manually, and then pressed by Ilse Mazza with great skill and intuition: with much G'schpür (gut feeling), as she loves to say. The grapes are gently vinificated by traditional methods, then optimized by the latest in cellar technologies.
The result: airy, fruity, ripe and elegant harmonic wines, which impress with their soul and individuality; wines which already enjoy an outstanding reputation far beyond the borders of the Wachau valley.
Three times a year, when it is time for the Heurigen at the Mazza estate, a cheeerful: 'Let's sit down together again!', can be heard. The guests and wine connoisseurs can then immerse themselves into Ilse's wine and Heurigen emporium and enjoy the homemade delicacies. Everything on the menu is prepared from fresh, regional products by Ilse and her staff. The Mazza Heurige is by all rights a most popular meeting spot for those with insider knowledge of the Wachau region.
